NGP

Bloggers, for those of you who are into gaming, this shouldn't be anything new... For the rest of you, this is amazing... What is it I am talking about? One of the best pieces of technology that is to be released in the following years...It's sony's new handheld the NGP, or next generation portable (alias psp-2). Yes, It has finally come to this point, sony announced a while ago they were working on a new handheld... If you are wondering why I am so amazed by this thing, allow me to explain myself...
That's because it has almost  every thing a handheld could ever need, let me make a short list:
2 analog sticks, 2 cameras, 2 touching sensors (one on the screen and one on the NGP back), bluetooth, Wifi, 3G, GPS, gyroscope and accelerometer (so it can sense 6 directions), and there's much more...
The NGP is fitted with a 4 core ARM Cortex-A9 core processor and a 5-inch touchscreen OLED display which will be working on a 960 x 544 resolution.

If you're not impressed by now, think about all the possibilities these things bring with them... If developers find a way to implement the use of all these things into their games, I'm sure, very sure, that awesome games can be made... Especially since the they will feature PSN achievements (it's all about the achievements, right...)

Now, the previous handheld, psp-go, had a download only service... The NGP will also work with downloadable content, BUT there will also be a cardslot for special NGP only gamecards... So there is going to be retail sale, and thus also a "prize war"...

The battery life is yet to be announced, but honestly, I think that after the problems with the psp, they ought to have spent some attention to that stuff...

The price tag for this little guy? Well not that much at all, IMO, 300$... Ok, that is a lot, but if you see what you will get for that money, than that's more than reasonable for me...

But what do you guys think?

Bonus: the "trailer":

  1. $250 is not that much indeed. I expected it to be around 300 bucks, so I'm ok with $250 :)

  8. Don't get me wrong, it has amazing specs and seems very nice. But in terms of marketability... I dunno, Nintendo has dominated the market even with their simplistic games and consoles. And with the rise of 3DS already out, we'll see. The only thing that may get this guy off the ground is the nice price tag.

  9. The technology may be impressive, and it is, but the problem I found with the PSP is that most of the games worth playing are ports and remakes. =/
