Robo-fun

Hey people!
Today I finally solved the lawyer thing with the insurances... Without having to resort to court! He told me my rights and exactly what I had to do to give proof of every thing, so that's solved, the insurance is going to pay for the repairs and I am getting a little something too for the problems they caused... Great =D

Well, anyways let's get back on track with the usual blogging :) And as i promised you last time, here are some robots =D

#1 RHex: rough terrain bot

What is this thing? A walking conveyor belt with 6 legs strapped onto it? Well close... This robot is designed to be able to walk on every terrain, and I really mean EVERY terrain... it even can swim using a flipper addition...
It is controlled using a remote which has a reach of about 500 meters! It can think for itself and adjust it's walking speed and strength to the conditions of the surface and he has a build in gps... Imagine what dis technology could do with our way of transport!

Video of him in action:

#2 Divabot

What is the first thing you think of when you hear robot, right probably an android like machine... Well This android here has learned how to perform and entertain...Meet Divabot, or also called HRP-4C. She (it) sings and dances (well somewhat).  It also contains a special software which is able to generate facial expressions and movements very accurately according to the speech, so it looks just like the real thing, though its movements aren't that lively and flowing yet. But imagine what could be possible over time... Could it be possible that we go to concerts given by these machines, where they let themselves go out full? I wonder...

Here's a glance of what such a performance could look like...

#3 WR-07

Every one knows this scentence: transformers, roll out! Well soon it might be possible... In japan they have created a real transformer, it changes from car to bot in less than a minute, and it looks good too... Even though I don't really see a future use for this, it's way too cool that transformers are slowly becoming reality... Now let's hope that doesn't go for descepticons too...

#4  Bartender bot

Even though this robot probably isn't the most high tech one there is out there, it still earned his place in this post... Why? because it's made out of lego's! This project was created by a bunch of students in their final year, and boy I sure hope they passed... The concept might be simple, but the outcome is just great, even if it wouldn't move, the bartender still looks great... Now this is a thing that I think will be used in the future... Bartending  robots who don't spill, make any mistakes and if properly made, can give as much of a show as a real person...

See the bartender at work :

That's it, 4 interesting robots, but there are lots and lots more!

So yeah, see you later when I tell you about something else!

  14. These are pretty cool! Only a matter of time before they become useful and cheap enough that household robots become normal. Roombas are a nice start, but I want something that can dust my house and pick up my mess!
